Two southern Iowa farmers say their corn yields so far are running much better than they expected.
Kurt Hora, who farms in Washington County in southeast Iowa, says he’s harvested 450 acres of corn and the yields are outstanding.
“We took a plot out a week-and-a-half ago and 35 different varieties averaged 257 bushels per acre,” Hora says. “I’ve seen more 300 bushel corn than I’ve ever harvested before. We’re probably going to have our best farm yield average ever on corn.”
Duane Aistrope, who farms in Fremont County in southwest Iowa, says his corn yields have been “really good”.
