The former Oscar Mayer plant in Madison might be sold by the end of the month. The plant used to employ 1,250 workers until it closed in June. Reich Brothers Holdings LLC of New York is in negotiations to acquire and redevelop the site. The Madison plant was one of seven plants selected for closure when the Kraft-Heinz merger took place. It had been in operation for almost a century.
The meat packing plant is in an industrial zone, which means any changes would have to be approved by the Madison City Council.
