The head of the Illinois Stewardship Alliance says continued support of local food systems in the next Farm Bill is one of their top priorities. Liz Moran Stelk tells Brownfield Ag News part of the success of local and regional food systems is tied to the SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance) program, “At our market that we run in Springfield, Illinois, we have the technology to be able to accept food stamps at the market and that came through a USDA farm bill program.
