The chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, Mike Conaway, says his original goal of finishing the 2018 farm bill by the end of this year is still a possibility.
“We’re putting pencil to paper now on re-drafting the new farm bill, including the nutrition title. We’ll have that done, we think, over the next several weeks,” Conaway says. “As soon as we can show where we’ve got the votes, I think the leader will put us on the floor—we’ll back up from that by several days to run it through committee and move forward.
