At his confirmation hearing this week to become USDA undersecretary for marketing and regulatory programs, Nebraska ag director Greg Ibach said the position requires a balancing of two priorities.
“The first, representing and promoting the interests of farmers and ranchers, and the second, overseeing entities that regulate them, can be a difficult task,” Ibach says. “However, the word ‘balance’ is key to that equation.”
Among the programs Ibach will oversee, if approved, is APHIS—the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
