At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, live and feeder cattle futures closed higher on the optimism of another round of expected higher cash business. October live cattle closed $.87 higher at $111.02 and December live cattle closed $.87 higher at $116.92. October feeder cattle closed $.37 higher at $153.95 and November feeder cattle closed $.90 higher at $155.75.
Direct cattle trade improved late in the day in most areas with short-bought cattle buyers moving closer to asking prices.
