The Senate Ag Committee held a confirmation hearing this morning for two USDA undersecretary nominees—Iowa ag secretary Bill Northey to lead farm and conservation programs; and Nebraska ag director Greg Ibach to oversee marketing and regulatory programs.

Ibach told the committee, if approved, his daily decisions will be tempered by two principles.

“How will regulatory programs and promotional activities improve the opportunities, not only for my neighbors in Sumner (Nebraska), but also Americans across the country,” Ibach said.
