Dr. Dale Lauer is assistant director of the Minnesota Board of Animal Health.
He and others from his state, one of the hardest hit by the highly pathogenic avian influenza in 2015, have helped design a standardized program to protect against another outbreak.
The National Poultry Improvement Plan provides biosecurity principles that apply to the turkey, broiler, and layer industries as well as some of the upland game-bird operations.
