Soybeans were modestly higher on commercial and technical buying, rallying around midday. Harvest delays are expected over the next few days in parts of the Midwest and Plains and rainfall should help replenish low river levels. The lack of activity, especially on the Mississippi and Ohio, pushed cash basis levels to multi-year lows and pushed shipping costs to new highs. The trade is also watching South America, with only scattered rainfall in the forecast for dry parts of Brazil.
