American persimmon fruit is part of the fall landscape in the woods in many parts of the country and is loaded with nutrients. Persimmons are small orange-colored fruits when ripe that grow on persimmon trees. You can use the pulp for sweet treats including bread, cookies, pudding and pies – even fudge. An unripe persimmon is incredibly tart and will literally make your lips pucker.
