Warm temperatures helped dry down fields for harvest this week, but not without some complications. Farmers were faced with the decision to wait for some rain to begin soybean harvest or to start and take measures to minimize pods shattering and losing beans and yield.
According to the latest USDA Crop and Weather report, eight percent of the corn crop has been harvested for grain and 58 percent is mature. Seventy-eight percent of the corn has been harvested for silage.
