At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, cattle futures closed sharply lower on lack of support from boxed beef and from technical selling. The market also continues to wait for some direction from the cash trade. October live cattle closed $1.27 lower at $107.82 and December live cattle closed $1.82 lower at $113.42. October feeder cattle closed $1.87 lower at $150.35 and November feeder cattle were down $2.40 at $151.60.
It was a typical Monday as direct cash cattle trade was at a standstill following the distribution of new showlists.
