U.S. corn, soybean, and wheat stocks on September 1st were large, but not as large as many analysts were expecting, all coming in below average pre-report estimates. High levels of domestic corn and soybean production and increased export competition largely canceled out solid domestic demand. Unless there’s a revision in October’s supply and demand report, these are the 2016/17 marketing year ending stocks totals for corn and soybeans.
The USDA says corn stocks were up 32% on the year at 2.295 billion bushels, with a lower than a year ago rated of implied disappearance, which would be the biggest ending stocks total in nearly 30 marketing years.
