Soybeans were modestly lower on speculative and technical selling. U.S. crop weather generally looks non-threatening and there’s rain in the forecast for dry parts of Brazil. Weekly export sales were strong at nearly 110 million bushels and unknown destinations bought 132,000 tons of 2017/18 U.S. beans, but the trade seems to be more focused on this year’s expected large, if not record, crop. Soybean meal and oil were lower with the first notice day for October contracts on Friday and the 2017/18 marketing year starting October 1st.
