Direct cash cattle markets are mostly quiet. A few sales are reported at $172 dressed in Nebraska to a regional buyer, but otherwise, the major feeding areas are at a standstill. Packer inquiry did improve yesterday as futures recovered, but through midday today, trade has been mixed and there’s still enough space between bids and asking prices that widespread trade may wait until tomorrow. Those asking prices are around $110+ on the live basis and $172+ dressed, with bids of $104 live and $168 to $170 dressed.
