Higher prices for bacon, orange juice, and chicken have resulted in an increase in the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Fall Harvest Marketbasket Survey.
Joe Newton, AFBF’s director of market intelligence, says the informal survey shows the total cost of 16 food items was a little more than $51, up 3 percent from last year.
He says higher prices are explained by what has been seen in the market this year, especially with orange juice and bacon.
