Two diseases have stood out in corn and soybeans this season, showing the wide swing in conditions from north to south. Mike Meyer, with DuPont Crop Protection, says it’s unusual to have them both in one growing season, “It’s sort of strange, actually, to think that we would have a tropical southern rust be at relatively higher than normal levels at the same time also having soybean white mold which favors cooler, moderate temperatures.”
Meyer says best management practices next year, should include fungicide application in corn at the VT to R1 stage.
