An official of BNSF Railway says their shipments of grain and soybeans this fall and winter will be down from last year.
Sam Sexhus, group vice president for ag products with BNSF, says that prediction is driven by the projected decline in grain and soybean exports.
“The USDA is forecasting about 380-million fewer bushels relative to the crop year of 2016-17,” Sexhus says. “If you convert that to railcars, it’s about 100-thousand railcars.
