The USDA will release its Quarterly Hogs and Pigs Report Thursday afternoon.
Iowa State University Extension livestock economist Lee Schultz expects the report to show continued expansion of the hog industry.
“When we look at the All Hogs and Pigs estimate, I expect that to be up compared to year-ago levels, from 2½ to 3 percent,” Schultz says. “On the breeding herd, we’re estimating it to be up just slightly less than 1 percent.
