Soybeans were modestly higher on commercial and technical buying. Friday was the official start of the new marketing year and domestic demand continues to be solid. The trade expects a big crop, but recent private estimates have varied pretty widely. From its annual survey, Allendale has beans at 4.179 billion bushels with an average yield of 47.1 bushels per acre. Also this week, FC Stone put beans at 4.418 billion bushels with an average yield of 49.8 bushels per acre and Informa pegs beans at 4.384 billion bushels with an average of 47.3 bushels per acre.
