In less than 10 days, President Trump made three off-the-cuff and prepared statements, all related to his pessimism about the fate of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). It’s no secret Trump hates NAFTA – “the worst deal the U.S. ever signed – but his statements, or at least their timing, are perplexing given his trade team has just completed the first five-day session with its counterparts from Canada and Mexico, and the consensus among observers is that session went pretty well.
