The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) wants the EPA to allow expanded use of E15 nationwide to help alleviate potential fuel shortages resulting from Hurricane Harvey.
In a letter to EPA administrator Scott Pruitt, RFA asked for an early end to the summer Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) control season so that more ethanol can be used to help address the anticipated gasoline shortfalls. The RVP restriction runs through September 15th.
RFA says relaxing the RVP rule would allow gasoline blenders to draw from “ample” ethanol supplies to help offset shortages resulting from refinery and terminal outages in the Texas Gulf region.
