A south-central Illinois farmer says his corn and soybeans have weathered a lot of ups and downs this year. Randy Williamson farms in Carlinville, Illinois and says his crops went through a good dry spell, “We had 100 degree temperatures for about a week during pollination. So, based on the weather, I can’t complain about them. But I’ve done yield checks and it’s anywhere from 130 bushels to 190 bushels per acre, I mean it’s – the variability this year is just going to be incredible.”
He says his neighbors will start harvesting corn after Labor Day but he is waiting about three weeks before starting because it’s been cool and his corn needs to dry down more.
