The soybean condition rating in the latest crop progress report improved slightly to 60 percent good to excellent and 28 percent fair. Six percent of soybeans were starting to turn color, three days behind average.
Iowa’s corn rating also comes in at 60 percent good to excellent. Forty-one percent of the corn crop has reached the dent stage, four days behind average.
“Much of the state received some needed moisture last week that will hopefully help crops as they move towards maturity,” said Iowa ag secretary Bill Northey.
