Participants on the eastern leg of the Midwest Crop Tour Wednesday estimated corn yields in Illinois at 181 bushels per acre, seven bushels less than the USDA’s August estimate.
Scouts traveling through western Iowa estimated corn yields at 181 bushels per acre, a little better than expected.
Soybean pod counts in Illinois were close to the three-year average, but pod counts in western Iowa were said to be well below average.
