An ag economics professor says U.S. dairy policy will likely change, but the question is when. Carl Zulauf from Ohio State tells Brownfield, “I think dairy is going to be a big issue in the farm bill. I think one of the interesting questions, as we look at it right now, is will the dairy policy adjustments be made to the farm bill or the appropriations process? And, if that happens, we could see dairy policy get resolved sooner rather than later.”
Zulauf says whether it’s a new dairy program similar to crop insurance or a modified Margin Protection Program, he expects things will be different because of the current MPP program’s lack of success.
