Wisconsin farmers sending forage to drought-stricken South Dakota, North Dakota, and Montana will have fewer transportation restrictions. Governor Scott Walker signed an executive order declaring a 30-day agricultural state of emergency. Walker’s order allows over-width and over-height vehicles to transport baled straw, hay, cornstalks, and stover on state and federal highways including the Interstate system.
The Governor’s order also waives the fees for 72-hour oversize trip permits and permits vehicles not enrolled in the International Registration Plan or International Fuel Tax Agreement to transport forage for drought relief.
