The Swine Health Information Center (SHIC) is funding a study to investigate using dust samples to monitor for swine pathogens in U.S. feed mills.
The research will focus on finding ways in which a single swab of feed mill dust might be analyzed to detect multiple feed-based bacteria and viruses. SHIC hopes it will lead to creation of a low-cost tool to help address feed safety.
The research will be conducted by Kansas State University researchers.
