National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson is urging U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue to expand USDA’s commitment to help farmers mitigate the impacts of climate change.  In a letter to the secretary, Johnson says farmers and ranchers are navigating warmer temperatures and increased weather variability as a result of climate change.  The organization says USDA will play a vital role in helping producers adapt to adverse impacts of climate volatility.

Johnson cited the agency’s work on climate change, including the Natural Resource Conservation Service’s efforts to engage producers on the benefits of building soil health and climate resiliency.
