This is the 18th year for celebrating national farmers market week. U.S. Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue issued a proclamation to recognize them all this week. Dru Montri, director of the Michigan Farmers Market Association, tells Brownfield the number continues to grow across the U.S., helping local economies, “Farmers markets and other direct marketing outlets, so that could be community supported agriculture outlets or on-farm markets, are contributing approximately $9-Billion each year to the U.S.
