The USDA’s first survey-based report on expected production of major row crops comes out August 10th.
Up to this point, USDA crop production forecasts have been based on acreage times what analysts think yields might be. Lance Honig with USDA’s Ag Statistics Service says the August 10 report will provide more concrete information. He says they’re currently surveying 22,000 producers.
“We’re asking those producers to tell us what they expect the yield to be for the various crops that they’re growing,” Honig says.
