China has placed a temporary ban on beef and lamb exports from six Australian processing plants over alleged concerns about labeling discrepancies on products.
Australian government officials have confirmed the ban is in place, vowing to work closely with the country’s beef industry and Chinese officials to get the ban resolved.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that, given the scale and value of Australia’s growing beef export trade to China, news of the ban has sent ripples around the industry.
