The USDA says domestic poultry production in June was up 1% on the year at 4.123 billion pounds. The total live weight of all poultry was 5.443 billion pounds. Ante-mortem condemnations were 12.759 million pounds, 0.23% of the total live weight, and post-mortem condemnations were 38.989 million pounds, 0.94% of monthly production.
A higher rate of slaughter and heavier weights for chickens helped cancel out a lower total live weight for turkeys.
