Campbell Soup Company says it is dropping its membership in the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA).
According to various media reports, the move stems from disagreement over labeling of products containing genetically modified ingredients. Campbell also supported efforts to make GMO labeling mandatory, while GMA fought to keep it voluntary.
Campbell has also stated that it plans to comply with the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) new “nutrition facts panel” by the original July 2018 deadline, even though the timetable was recently delayed by the agency.
