Germans are eating less pork. Consumption in Germany is at an 11 year low. The nation is cutting back on the brats, chops and wurst in favor of more vegetables. A story from Bloomberg News says Germans last year consumed the smallest amount of pork – about 2 million tons – since 2005, and the slide will continue this year.
That doesn’t mean pork is not heavily consumed in Germany. It accounts for more than half the meat eaten there, but pork is losing market share to poultry and beef.
