It’s still hot and dry across South Dakota with crop conditions continuing to decline. Topsoil moisture is only 21 percent adequate to surplus.
Just 7 percent of the winter wheat is in good condition; none of it is excellent. Fourteen percent of the crop is harvested.
Spring wheat is 10 percent good to excellent, but 72 percent of South Dakota spring wheat is poor to very poor.
Corn is 37 percent good to excellent and just starting to pollinate.
