Agriculture economist Glenn Grimes has died. Grimes, who was 94, died Sunday. A Meating Place article says a cause was not immediately available.
Grimes was well known for his ability to talk about hog markets and the reasons for movements up or down. In 2006, in an interview with Brownfield Farm Director Cyndi Young, Grimes spoke about how hog biology and physiology don’t always mesh with market demand.
“For some reason we have changed the relationship between changing supply and price, or elasticity flexibility, if you want to use economic terms,” Grimes told Young during an interview at the 2006 World Pork Expo.
