More than a dozen prominent agriculture and commodity groups are urging President Trump to move quickly to fill vacancies in the USDA. The organizations sent a letter to the president explaining that the rural economy is struggling and needs leaders and decision makers in the agency. The letter praised the selection of Sonny Perdue to lead USDA, but noted that the agency has more than 100,000 employees and needs a full leadership team.
The groups say the absence of high-ranking officials at USDA puts farmers and ranchers at a disadvantage.
