Friday (June 30) is the last day for ag producers to sign up to be counted in the 2017 Census of Agriculture. Lance Honig, with the USDA’s National Ag Statistics Service (NASS) says the information that is gathered in December is very helpful, “It helps us find those NEW trends in agriculture. Where are these crops moving in to? Sometimes it’s new crops. Sometimes it’s just crops expanding into new areas.”
Honig says sign-up is especially important for new farmers and ranchers and those who have not been contacted by NASS before.
