Much needed rain fell in parts of Iowa last week, but isolated thunderstorms with strong winds and hail also caused crop damage in some locations.
Statewide average rainfall for the week was 1.4 inches, but northwest, south-central and southeast Iowa saw only light amounts.
The condition ratings for Iowa’s corn and soybean crops remained strong, with corn at 78 percent and soybeans at 74 percent good to excellent.
Hay condition remained 83 percent good to excellent, with second cutting getting underway in many areas.
