More than 80 percent of Minnesota’s corn crop is rated in good to excellent condition.
In its latest progress report, the USDA says early week rainfall paired with warm, dry conditions towards the end of the week allowed for overall crop advancement.
Farm management analyst Kent Thiesse says despite some damaging thunderstorms in parts of the state, most farmers are pleased with weather so far this month.
“We had an extremely warm first half of June, then together with some timely rainfall, crop conditions in many areas have really started to take off and improve.”
Thiesse is based near Mankato in south-central Minnesota.
