The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has selected two projects to receive Clean Water Fund research contracts.
Both requests chosen come from researchers at the University of Minnesota.
The first project examines the design, performance and implementation of saturated buffers.
The other combines Best Management Practices to measure their collective effectiveness maintaining farm productivity while improving watershed conditions.
MDA research scientist Heidi Peterson says 13 proposals were reviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from each state agency involved in agricultural issues, as well as three Minnesota farmers.
