Variability seems to be a major theme as the 2017 growing season reaches mid-June.
Jeff Hartz, director of marketing for Illinois-based Wyffels Hybrids, says planting delays are causing uneven crop development across the Midwest.
“A lot of places were really wet early, so there was a lot of replant. A lot of fields with varying populations and plant stands.”
He tells Brownfield many areas are now becoming too dry.
