Ag education is changing to keep up with science
Agriculture education is changing to keep up with recent advancements.
National FFA Association CEO Mark Poeschl tells Brownfield they are working with ag educators as agriculture and technology evolves. “We are working diligently to continue to develop curriculum that’s more attuned to agriscience education.”
And, that means exposing FFA members to more science and technology uses in agribusiness to get them interested in a possible ag-related career. Poeschl says, “The kids that are in middle school are already determining what their areas of interest are, and when you look at some of the middle school ag ed and FFA programs, they’re exposing these young people to a wide range of subjects and giving them an opportunity to think about areas that interest them.”
Poeschl says there were 235 unique career opportunities in agribusiness last year.
