Commodity groups are applauding President Trump’s commitment to make infrastructure a national priority.
Brooke Appleton with the National Corn Growers Association tells Brownfield almost three-quarters of U.S. grain exports are transported through the country’s aging river systems and a breakdown could have major ramifications on the movement of ag products. “Most of the nation’s locks and dams have outlived their intended 50-year lifespans. We are really looking forward to working with this administration, hopefully on directing some more funds towards upgrading and maintaining our inland waterway system.” Appleton says the organization is looking forward to getting more details from the administration on legislation needed to make infrastructure investments possible.
