A light cattle trade developed in parts of the North from 220.00 to 221.00 on a dressed basis, about $4.00 higher than last week’s weighted average basis Nebraska. There are reports that some packers have pulled back bids to 218.00 in the North The rest of cattle country remains fairly quiet. Asking prices are around 140.00 to 142.00 plus in the South, and 220.00 plus in the North. Thursdays slaughter is estimated at 117,000 head, even with last week, but 4,000 more than last year.
