The Brazilian beef scandal involving JBS has a U.S. producer group calling for a full investigation. R-CALF USA has sent an 11-page request to President Donald Trump, Ag Secretary Sonny Perdue and Congressional leaders seeking enforcement of antitrust laws.
R-CALF issued a statement Tuesday saying an investigation is needed to determine the full scope of JBS’s potentially unlawful activities and the impact on the U.S. live cattle industry. R-CALF claims JBS used powerful influence in Washington to build a monopolistic beef empire in America, causing beef prices to fall by more than $850 dollars a head.
