Nitrogen loss is a concern in areas that received excessive rainfall this spring. Todd Claussen, director of agronomy with Ames, Iowa-based Landus Cooperative, says they are still in the process of evaluating nitrogen loss–or as he likes to call it, “nitrogen that is positionally unavailable”. One thing they are not suggesting, Claussen says, is broadly making blind applications of nitrogen.
