A co-founder of the Central Minnesota Young Farmers Coalition calls legislation signed into law by Governor Dayton a “game-changer” for beginning farmers.
Eric Sannerud, a conventional hops grower from Foley, says access to land is one of the biggest challenges for those entering production agriculture.
“It’s our hope and belief that a bill like this, that includes that additional incentive for existing owners to sell or rent to newer farmers will really make a difference here in Minnesota.”
Among ten budget bills signed by the Governor earlier this week is legislation incentivizing landowners to sell farmland to beginning farmers.
