Minnesota’s corn and soybean farmers have a mostly positive view of how legislative priorities were addressed this session.
Soybean Growers Association lobbyist Cory Bennett says property tax relief for farmland was their number one issue going in.
“Getting some ag property tax relief out there was critical. Certainly funding for roads and bridges was something we’ve been advocating (for). Healthcare was a concern this year as well with those people buying insurance on the individual market were able to work with others and relieve that situation in some way.”
Minnesota Corn Growers executive director Adam Birr agrees the 40 percent credit on farm property taxes levied for school district bonding is a big success.
